Editors' note: This review was originally published Oct. 17, 2017 at 6 a.m. PT. It was updated on Oct. 23 detailing the Pixel 2 XL's screen burn-in issue, on Oct. 25 with further observations and Google's initial remarks, and on Oct. 26 with the company's follow-up statement detailing a software fix and extended two-year warranty. When it comes to the camera, processor and software, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are both identical and fantastic. The differences between the two come down to price (obviously), size, bezel width and screen technology. We loved our early experience with the Pixel 2 XL, but any potential buyers need to know about some problems with its screen that have come to light since we first reviewed the phone, and the upcoming software fix Google says will address it. 28 Pixel 2 and 2 XL photos: Feast your eyes Wait, what's happening? The Pixel 2 XL has a bigger 6-inch display and a higher resolution than the 5-inch Pixel 2. But it also … [Read more...] about Google Pixel 2 XL review: Promising phone with new caveats

As the time goes on, also so does the technology. For many years the ultimate performance drive choice was an SDD with SATA interface. These SSDs can reach read/write speeds of 600MB/s! That’s very impressive when comparing with traditional mechanical HDDs. However, since 2014/2015 there is Next Generation Form Factor (NGFF) SSD, better known as M.2 interface SSD. When we talk about SSDs, the first thing that comes to mind is the traditional 2.5-inch form factor SSD. The main idea behind 2.5-inch form factor is that these SSDs have the same dimensions as laptop HDDs do. So you can upgrade your old HDD with SSD, have no problem fitting them in. Meanwhile, for Desktop PCs, you could mount 2.5-inch SSDs in a 3.5-inch drive bay using a simple bracket. These days most PC cases have their own bays for mounting 2.5-inch drives. It is clear that SSDs don’t have to be that big to fit into 2.5-inch form factor. Actually, in average 2.5-inch SSD, there is a lot of unused space. They … [Read more...] about Best M.2 SSDs of 2018
With the amount of data we use and save, all aspects of data storage become hugely important, including higher data transfer speeds from storage devices. These days HDDs are often being replaced by SSDs to gain a huge increase in these transfer speeds, but getting that absolute best data delivery may require some more setup. Most storage devices still use the SATA interface to connect to your PC, so the question arises, does it’s specifics affect your PC’s performance? SATA version 3.0 was introduced in 2009 and was promised to have double the speed of its predecessor SATA 2.0 and in this article, we will discuss the real-life difference between the versions and the gear related to them. What is SATA? SATA (Serial ATA) is an IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) standard, which basically to a consumer means plugs, connectors, and cables that allow storage devices to connect to the motherboard, allowing data transfer. Storage devices, in this case, means HDDs (Hard … [Read more...] about SATA 2 vs SATA 3 vs eSATA – what’s the difference?
Mostly everyone wants to get the best product they can afford in every aspect – design, build quality, and performance. Same goes for hard drives. Of course, everyone loves storage devices with fast boot times, data transfer speeds, and large storage space. Stand-alone SSDs with large capacities are expensive, but the more affordable and traditional hard drives can’t offer performance you’re looking for? Now you can go Midway with Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSHD. Solid State Hybrid Drive is a great solution if you’re on a budget and want to squeeze all the performance out of every cent. It combines a traditional – mechanical hard drive with a NAND type flash memory. These two memory drives conjoined with clever firmware results in a fast performing drive that is way more capable than conventional hard drive. When you place two systems nearby one with conventional hard drive and another one with SSHD, you can immediately tell the difference for example in … [Read more...] about Seagate FireCuda Gaming 2.5-Inch SSHD Review
