At $13,250, Would Buying This 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra Mean That You Can Tell Shit From Shinoda?

Nice Price Or Crack Pipe Is this used car a good deal? You decide! Larry Shinoda worked on two of the most iconic cars in American automotive history—the Chevy Corvette, and Ford Mustang. Today’s Nice Price or Crack Pipe Mustang Cobra is from the year of Shinoda’s passing. Will its price however, get a pass? I didn’t have the first clue as to what I would do with yesterday’s tactical defense grade 1990 Jeep Wagoneer Limited, and based on the comments, most of you were of a like mind. The majority of you didn’t like its $8,495 price either, sending it packing in a 56 percent Crack Pipe loss. I would say that the Chevy Corvette and Ford Mustang are both cars that bring happiness to their owners. I mean, why else would you buy one? Certainly not for their basic utility or fuel efficiency. Larry Shinoda was an automotive designer who got to work on both car lines and by all accounts he was a pretty fun guy, so much so that he got himself kicked out of … [Read more...] about At $13,250, Would Buying This 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra Mean That You Can Tell Shit From Shinoda?

Dealership Takes Customer’s Corvette on 90+ MPH Joyride After Airbag Recall Fix

November 9, 2018 by jalopnik Leave a Comment

I think it’s telling that all of us here at Jalopnik were going back-and-forth about whether or not to write up this story of a dealership speeding in a customer’s car, mostly because we’ve seen so many worse videos of dealership abuse. But that’s just us being jaded. Really, it’s worth calling out all these examples of dealers joyriding in customer’s cars, because maybe then they’ll stop. Maybe. The car in this case was Jon Martin’s 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, which had to go to his dealership, Tyler Chevrolet in Niles, Michigan, for an airbag recall issue. Here’s how GM described the issue and the required fix: GM Recall #: 2016007 Date Issued: Sep 08, 2016 Frontal Airbag And Pretensioner Non Deploy Recall Description: General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2014-2017 model year Chevrolet Silverado LD, GMC Sierra LD, Buick Encore, ChevroletTrax, Chevrolet Caprice Police, … [Read more...] about Dealership Takes Customer’s Corvette on 90+ MPH Joyride After Airbag Recall Fix

What Car Should You Buy The experts at Jalopnik answer your car-buying questions. Pete spends most of the year on a boat, but when he is home he likes to drive fast and throw down some lap times. He is ready to swap his Corvette for something that can handle track days but doesn’t want the usual suspects. What car should he buy? (Welcome back to What Car Should You Buy? Where we give real people real advice about buying cars. Do you want us to help you find a car? Submit your story on our form.) Here is the scenario: I currently have a 335i that I use as my daily driver (when I’m home) and own two sports cars to have fun with at the track (and occasionally to wow a coworker). The unfortunate thing is I’m only in the U.S. for about 1.5 months at a time, maybe twice a year. What I am looking for is a new track car to replace my Corvette, which I plan on selling. I don’t mind having another dual-clutch car or a manual (the Corvette). I was originally … [Read more...] about I’ve Got Serious Money to Spend on a Track Car but I Don’t Want the Typical Choices! This Crusty Fiero-Based Ferrari F40 Replica Is A Race Car And That’s Probably For The Best

Build Of The Week Featuring the most fascinating projects out there: wild engine swaps, show cars, race cars, rare cars, and even meticulously well-preserved regular cars no one else has the guts to love. Send in your build via email to [Stef Schrader](mailto:[email protected]) with “Build of the Week” in the subject line so we can find it. Pontiac Fiero-based replica cars talk a lot of visual smack with their racy bodywork, but rarely back it up. Fortunately for us all, the current owners of this Fiero-based Ferrari F40 replica did the right thing and took it racing. Hey, replica owners everywhere: put up or shut up. Ratsun Racing has a knack for locating bizarre bodykits, as they’ve been racing their delightfully strange Datsun B210ZX in 24 Hours of Lemons races for years. To be honest, a bad supercar replica is the only thing that could have outdone that strange retro kit, and fortunately for them, there was a particularly mangy “F40" for sale on … [Read more...] about This Crusty Fiero-Based Ferrari F40 Replica Is A Race Car And That’s Probably For The Best

The Morning Shift All your daily car news in one convenient place. Isn't your time more important? Elon Musk admits that Tesla is falling behind on deliveries, the mid-size Ram will likely be a Wrangler, Cadillac wants to make special cars and Ferrari investors seem to be worried about nothing. All of this and more in The Morning Shift for Monday, Sept. 17, 2018. 1st Gear: Tesla Got Production to Increase, Now It’s Struggling to Deliver Tesla CEO Elon Musk continues to wear his customer service representative hat via his Twitter account, responding to a woman who claims the Tesla Model 3 she ordered is sitting in a railroad storage lot after multiple delivery delays. Having finally stabilized the production ramp up of the Tesla Model 3, at least the more expensive models for now, Musk admitted that now the problem was actually delivering the cars: Musk has been aware of potential delivery issues since as far back as 2016, claiming the company would struggle to handle … [Read more...] about Now Tesla Has a Delivery Problem
