If you’re still rocking a decade-old iPhone 5 or 5C and use WhatsApp, you should be aware that the Facebook-owned company will soon be ending support for those devices. A WhatsApp notification spotted by WhatsApp specialist site WABetaInfo reveals that the company will end support for iOS 10 and iOS 11 in the fall. The iPhone 5 and 5C are unable to deploy iOS 12 and later, which means WhatsApp on those two handsets will stop receiving the latest updates for security, features, and general functionality. According to the notification, WhatsApp will officially end support for iOS 11 and earlier on October 24, so there’s plenty of time to make plans if the messaging app is a major part of your connected life. A WhatsApp support page says the messaging app currently works best with iOS 12 and later, which means the iPhone 5S and later Apple handsets. Apple stopped making the iPhone 5 in 2013, and while it was popular in its day, it’s safe to say that few people are still using … [Read more...] about WhatsApp to end support for older iPhones in coming months | Digital Trends

Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro review: Luxuriously limiting | Digital Trends
Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro MSRP $540.00 Score Details “The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro is a truly luxurious smartwatch packed with proven, reliable fitness technology, but it's missing that something special, and the platform lacks wide appeal.” Pros Choice of size and design Luxury materials At least a week's battery life Fast and accurate GPS Comprehensive activity tracking and app Cons Some features are Huawei-only ECG feature is not ready No neutral design for the 43mm model Very limited app support The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro is a new product, but its features make it a bit of a “greatest hits” model in Huawei’s smartwatch range. The Reolink features a similar articulating camera with one peculiar feature you don’t see too often in an indoor camera: A zoom lens. It’s a rare extra, but is it a meaningful addition for a smart … [Read more...] about Reolink E1 Zoom Review: A Zoom Camera That Lacks Focus | Digital Trends
Small phones have had a chance, but we always go large | Digital Trends
Last week, Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky joined a chorus of mostly online voices in advocacy for a small premium smartphone . In an interview with The Verge and on the aptly named “ smallandroidphone ” website, he lamented the dearth of choices in the smartphone world when it came to size. According to him, small phones fit nicely in a pocket, are very light, easy to use one-handed, and handy in sports. Contents Discontinued for a reason No one buys them Small size, big compromises These are all really good arguments for the ever-recurring small phone debate we have year after year, but the numbers have been in for a long time: No one really wants small phones that badly. Discontinued for a reason “Since Sony discontinued the Xperia Compact line, no other Android phone maker has had the courage to make a small premium Android phone. It’s up to us to change that,” the page reads. It’s a strange request. What manufacturer would discontinue a product if … [Read more...] about Small phones have had a chance, but we always go large | Digital Trends
