AMD Intros Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 CPUs and Motherboards: Up to 5.5 GHz, 15%+ Performance, RDNA 2 Graphics

May 23, 2022 by www.tomshardware.com

AMD CEO Lisa Su revealed more details about the upcoming Ryzen 7000 series processors and the 600-series motherboards today during the company's keynote address, both of which will arrive in Fall 2022. AMD demoed a 16-core Ryzen 7000 processor hitting an amazing 5.5 GHz during a gaming demo, and also completing a Blender render 31% faster than Intel's flagship Core i9-12900K. As expected, we also learned plenty of new details about the 5nm Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 'Raphael' processors and the new wave of 600-series chipsets with the AM5 socket. The quick snap is that AMD claims the Ryzen 7000 processors will have >15% more single-threaded performance than their Zen 3 predecessors ( not IPC), up to a 5GHz+ maximum boost frequency, come with integrated RDNA 2 graphics (a first), and will support only DDR5 memory. In addition, the chips have 5nm CPU chiplets for the cores, a 6nm I/O die, and twice the L2 cache (1MB) per core. AMD splits the 600-series chipsets into a new X670E … [Read more...] about AMD Intros Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 CPUs and Motherboards: Up to 5.5 GHz, 15%+ Performance, RDNA 2 Graphics

Asus Unveils ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme Motherboard

May 23, 2022 by www.tomshardware.com

Asus has a new AMD motherboard to show off and this one uses the new AM5 socket. The ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme is heavily inspired by the number five, including PCIe 5.0 x16 to really pump the data to compatible graphics cards. AM5 motherboards are slowly appearing online, with a leak showcasing MSI's X670E appearing yesterday. An exercise in future-proofing as much as a highly viable platform for a new PC build, the ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme is built around an AM5 socket for Zen 4 AMD chips (that’s Ryzen 7000 for now) and along with the PCIe 5 offers DDR5 slots and five M.2 sockets. Image 1 of 5 Image 2 of 5 Image 3 of 5 Image 4 of 5 Image 5 of 5 The board appears nicely designed, with LED-spangled heatsinks covering most of the important bits - gone are the days when you could see every transistor on the motherboard. The uncovered components are are the  AM5 socket, DDR 5 RAM slots and two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots. Nice touches include USB 3.2 front … [Read more...] about Asus Unveils ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme Motherboard

AMD Ryzen 7000 will ‘end the stalemate’ on high DDR5 prices | Digital Trends

May 25, 2022 by www.digitaltrends.com

AMD revealed its Ryzen 7000 CPUs at Computex 2022 , and as expected, the new generation exclusively supports DDR5. That’s a bit of a problem considering the massively inflated prices of DDR5 memory at the moment, but AMD says it doesn’t expect pricing to be an issue once launch rolls around. Following AMD’s keynote presentation , director of technical marketing Robert Hallock said the company is “all-in on DDR5.” When asked about the high prices of DDR5, Hallock seemed confident: “The supply looks really good. The memory vendors are bullish about being able to enable our supply forecast for the year, for next year. And so we don’t see any real challenges here [with pricing].” After sustained high pricing in 2021, experts say that DDR5 prices will drop throughout 2022 . At the moment, though, they’re still much higher than DDR4. A 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR5 kit — among the best RAM you can buy — sells for about $310, while the same DDR4 kit is only $180. AMD Ryzen 7000 makes PC building much less intimidating | Digital Trends

May 24, 2022 by www.digitaltrends.com

AMD has only just officially announced its next-gen Ryzen 7000 “Raphael” processors , and to keep the hype going, as well as to educate the future owners of a Zen 4 CPU, MSI has posted a video tutorial that shows how to install the new chip. The tutorial, aside from being helpful, gives us a good look both at the chip and the socket. More importantly, it highlights just how easy it appears to be to install the new chip. AMD isn’t just releasing the next generation of its CPUs — it’s also switching to a whole new socket after over five years of staying true to the AM4. This, of course, means a slew of new motherboards , and MSI is among the first manufacturers to reveal its upcoming lineup. The video, therefore, shows off an upcoming MSI motherboard paired with a Zen 4 CPU. Many users might find the prospect of building a PC or even just installing a processor intimidating. However, it seems that AMD is headed in the right direction with its next-gen products, because the … [Read more...] about AMD Ryzen 7000 makes PC building much less intimidating | Digital Trends

The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D vs Intel Core i7-12700K and Intel Core i9-12900K is a surprisingly close battle for gaming dominance, but AMD has leveraged a completely new cutting-edge 3D SRAM packaging technology, called 3D V-cache , to fuse an additional slab of L3 cache atop the chips' die, thus bringing capacity up to an unheard-of 96MB of L3. best CPUs for gaming and CPU Benchmark hierarchy. Ryzen 5000 chips was AMD’s first microarchitecture that fully surpassed Intel in every conceivable metric, vastly upsetting the AMD vs Intel competition. However, Intel’s counterstrike with Alder Lake last year flipped the tables.
