Then there’s the lack of SD card support. This has always been a big feature on Microsoft’s Surface devices and even on the LG Velvet. The Surface Pro features a microSD card slot, as does the Surface Book. However, the Duo doesn’t have one. If you want extra storage, you need to pay up and upgrade to the 256GB model. We really hope the Duo 2 features SD card support to help erase that pain of paying for extra storage. … [Read more...] about 3 features we want from the Microsoft Surface Duo 2

The Surface Pro 7’s 12.3-inch PixelSense panel is sharper than the Surface Go 2’s as it’s packed with 2736 x 1824 pixels. However, you’d be surprised to know that Surface Go 2 beats it in terms of color reproduction and brightness level (this screen maxes out at 395 nits). It’s a great screen nonetheless, perfect for content streaming and reading. Another thing that puzzles us is that despite being the larger machine, the Surface Pro 7 only offers eight hours of battery life, while the Surface Go 2 lasts an impressive two hours longer. Still, we think the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 is the more well-rounded of the two and it’s our choice for the best 2-in-1 laptop of 2020. Here’s where the “design decisions” come in. Microsoft’s engineers wanted a device so thin it’ll have you gasping, a decision that drove the hardware and shaped the device. It means wireless charging was impossible to fit in. And 5G chipsets and the multitude of antennas that thread through the innards of most phones like your circulatory system simply wouldn’t work. That’s why Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 865 chip is missing. NFC requires yet another extra antenna, so it was left off as well, and with it the ability to tap to pay at a grocery store or subway turnstile. And an ordinary battery is too thick to fit this device. More on that in a second. … [Read more...] about Microsoft Surface Duo review: The future of smartphones is a work in progress

Samsung Galaxy S20 – $850, was $1,000 While the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus trumps the Galaxy S20 in terms of battery life, screen size, and camera quality, we think its 6.2-inch screen size is far more ergonomic and comfortable to hold. While a large phone is always great for watching movies, they’re too unwieldy, heavy, and nearly unpocketable. Another reason to consider buying the Galaxy S20 is it’s $250 cheaper than its bigger brother. Honestly, you’re still getting nearly the same flagship phone experience as this phone is powered by the same processor, runs with the same interface, and also offers 5G compatibility for the future. The Galaxy S20 flaunts an absolutely gorgeous Dynamic AMOLED display that’s packed with 3200 x 1440 pixels. It’s super bright, sharp, and dripping with vibrant colors. You’ll likely be surprised to know that the Galaxy S20 comes with the same set of lenses as the Galaxy S20 Plus except for the VGA time-of-flight … [Read more...] about Today’s Best Tech Deals: Apple Watch, Dell XPS 13, Microsoft Surface Pro
