Watch all the best trailers from Comic-Con 2018 right here
Comic-Con International in San Diego has established itself as an annual launching pad for some of Hollywood’s most-anticipated movie trailers and television previews, and the 2018 edition of the show continued that tradition. Among the big premieres at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con were the first trailers for James Wan’s oceanic superhero movie Aquaman and M. Night Shyamalan’s crossover film Glass, as well as early peeks at The Walking Dead season 9 and Star Trek: Discovery season 2, among other projects. These robots taser weeds to death so farmers don’t need chemical herbicides
Imagine if every time a weed appeared in your garden, a bolt of lightning came down from the heavens and zapped it off the face of the planet. A similar but more realistic solution has presented itself in the form of a new agricultural robotics startup called the Small Robot Company. The U.K.-based firm offers a trio of robots that will kill weeds with electricity. “Our first farm-ready robot, Tom, is now in four of our trial farms — including [U.K. supermarket] Waitrose and the National Trust,” Sam Watson Jones, co-founder of the Small Robot Company, told Digital Trends. “He’s delivering our first commercial service: Weed mapping. Once you know where all the weeds are, you can zap them individually.” Tom is capable of covering 20 … [Read more...] about These robots taser weeds to death so farmers don’t need chemical herbicides
Facebook’s long-promised Supreme Court for content won’t be here for a long time
The Facebook Oversight Board that can overrule CEO Mark Zuckerberg is taking longer than expected, and its inauguration is being pushed back, based on a blog post the social media giant published on Tuesday, December 10. The Oversight Board was expected to begin deliberating early next year, according to previous reports. However, a new post says the company has put $130 million into the board and is still working to source and review candidates as part of its selection process. “We’ve seen strong global interest in serving on the board, and this is a sign that we are heading in the right direction. While we had hoped to announce members by the end of this year, we’ve decided to take additional time to consider the many candidates who continue to be put forward,” wrote Brent Harris, Director of Governance and Global Affairs at Facebook, in the blog post. A public portal where people can recommend or self-nominate potential board members has been up since … [Read more...] about Facebook’s long-promised Supreme Court for content won’t be here for a long time
