We’re less than a month away from the biggest tech show of the year(I can feel my heart rate rise just thinking about it), but it seems Samsung couldn’t wait until early January to announce its new Notebook 9 Pen. Available in 13 and 15-inch versions, Samsung’s 360-degree 2-in-1 is aimed at creative types, and as its name implies, it comes with a stylus that looks and feels quite similar to the one that comes bundled with a Galaxy Note 9. On the Notebook 9 Pen, Samsung claims it has reduced the stylus’ latency considerably, but the real upgrade is probably the addition of three replaceable nibs that let you customize the pen tip’s shape and friction to better simulate the feeling of pen on paper. Samsung says that for 2019, one of its goals is to work more closely with component vendors like Intel and Nvidia so that its laptops will come equipped with the most up-to-date specs. On the Notebook 9 Pen that means you’ll get the choice of a couple … [Read more...] about Samsung Kicks Off CES Early With a Competent But Not Terribly Exciting 2-in-1 Laptop

There are tons of products and companys vying for our attention during the chaos and bustle of the CES, the annual consumer electronics trade show held every January in Las Vegas. But whether or not those products actually hit store shelves by the end of the year -- or any year -- is a different question altogether. Some "concept products" appear in various forms year after year. Others are never seen again after the show ends. And some you can actually buy before Christmas. So with CES 2019 just under a month away, we decided to revisit some of our favorites from the last show and see where they fell on the spectrum: Are they vaporware, can you buy them now -- or are they somewhere in between? Now playing: Watch this: Best tech of CES 2018: Where are they now? 2:42 Aibo, the robot dog from SonyStatus: Released, albeit in limited quantities After putting its first robot dog to sleep in 2006, Sony tried again at CES 2018 with a more natural-moving, … [Read more...] about CES 2018: Where are they now?
According to a fresh rumor, Nvidia will reveal its GeForce RTX Mobility graphics cards at CES 2019, supposedly on January 6, which would be in the pre-show run-up to the official start of the event (on January 8).This backs up previous speculation in which we heard that Nvidia was preparing to reveal its Turing GPUs targeted at laptops around CES time.Wccftech claims that the launch will happen on January 6 – or at least around that timeframe within a couple of days – and that laptops with GeForce RTX graphics cards inside them should be available to buy in February (and possibly even at the end of January). So we really haven’t got long to wait, assuming this rumor is on the money, and if you were thinking of buying a notebook with graphics performance being a concern, you might want to hold on and see what happens with the fresh products that should (hopefully) be emerging in just a couple of months.RTX 2080 delay?Nvidia is apparently set to unveil the GeForce RTX … [Read more...] about Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics for laptops rumored for CES
The female chief executives of two Silicon Valley giants will deliver keynote addresses at CES next year, following criticism earlier this year that the tech show lacked gender diversity.Lisa Su, the CEO of AMD, will be a keynote speaker at the annual tech show in January, the Consumer Technology Association, the show's organizer, said Wednesday. Ginni Rometti, IBM's CEO, was named a keynote speaker in August. The CTA said earlier this year it would ramp up its efforts to give women a voice at the conference, following criticism late last year over the all-male keynote lineup announced for CES 2018. The issue came to a head after a year of unprecedented focus on diversity and sexism in the tech community. The #MeToo movement had just caught fire, raising questions about gender and power. And in Silicon Valley, where companies are largely dominated by men, the so-called brogramming culture was highlighted by harassment scandals at Uber and in the venture capital community. The CTA said … [Read more...] about Female tech execs to deliver CES keynotes after diversity outcry
