Monday's Newegg Shuffle comes with every SKU of Nvidia's best graphics cards from the Ampere line, plus a single AMD GPU and a bunch of motherboards and power supplies that you probably don't want. The RTX 3060 and RTX 3090 are both here, as well as every option in between, including Ti and overclocked models. Plus, the Radeon RX 6700 makes sure AMD has some representation. Of note is that all of today's bundles come with either a motherboard or power supply attached, save for one bundle that instead opts to include a 1440p @ 165Hz Asus Monitor . Some of these are decent gear, like the Gigabyte Elite and Master series motherboards, but be careful around those power supplies. The Gigabyte power supplies included here have some pretty low ratings, although the EVGA bundles are likely a safer bet. Maybe. As for why you need to buy a bundle in the first place, it's because Newegg knows these GPUs are rare, and it's happy to take the opportunity to force you to buy extra … [Read more...] about Every RTX 30-Series Card is in the Monday Newegg Shuffle
Breakthrough top cards
Shortages on the best graphics cards — and really, any graphics card — as well as other components will persist through the end of the year, which is why GPU vendors are preparing to hike the prices of their products once again. Asus reportedly intends to increase its prices for the second time this year. Demand for graphics cards is increasing both because gamers want to play the latest titles and because of demand from cryptocurrency miners . Meanwhile, neither AMD nor Nvidia can increase the supply as their partners, TSMC and Samsung Foundry, are busy making other chips. According to DigiTimes, this situation won't change any time soon as production capacities are 100% filled. Asus already increased GPU pricing earlier this year, citing increasing tariffs. Later, the company admitted that Nvidia had reduced GPU supply in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the fourth quarter of 2020. MSI followed suit and also raised the MSRPs of its graphics cards in late … [Read more...] about Asus Prepares for Another Round of Graphics Card Price Hikes
We reported a few weeks back that Nvidia might be replacing its current RTX 3000 series GPUs with new GPU cores featuring a hardware-based anti-Ethereium mining limiter. But now according to Igor's Lab, there's more evidence for this plan with AIB partners being told on how to market these new 'mining limited' GPUs. According to Igor, Nvidia is in the process of figuring out how to label these new GPUs, to make it easier for consumers to understand if they are getting an RTX 3000 graphics card that has the hardware-based mining limiter or not. For now, it seems Nvidia partners are free to market the new mining limited cards in whatever way they want, as long as the card can be identified as a mining limited card or not. This is good news for gamers and miners. Letting consumers know if the Ampere card they are buying is mining limiter or not directly on the model name will yield less confusion overall. There's still some concern on how these will actually be labeled, … [Read more...] about Nvidia’s AIB Partners Will Show Which Ampere Cards Have a Mining Limiter.
AMD released its RX 6000 graphics cards a few months ago, but next-generation cards based on the new RDNA 3 architecture are, of course, in the works. Leaker KittyYuko (via Wccftech ), who had a successful streak with Ampere and Big Navi leaks, shared some information about the upcoming Navi 33 GPU. The cryptic tweak says that Navi 33 equals Navi 21, plus a next-gen IP core. That points to an RDNA 3 core with specs equal to the current Navi 21 GPU. Navi 33 (?) = Navi 21 + Next Gen IP Core — Yuko Yoshida (@KittyYYuko) May 2, 2021 Variants of Navi 21 are inside the RX 6900 XT, 6800 XT, and 6800 . The top-end chip inside the 6900 XT features 80 compute units, 80 RT cores, and 5,120 shaders, and according to KittyYuko, the next-gen Navi 33 GPU will feature the same specs. A patent from last year, however, shows that AMD may be using a chiplet design inspired by Ryzen processors, which would put two GPU cores next to each other for a total of 160 compute units … [Read more...] about RDNA 3 leak hints at how powerful AMD’s next-gen cards will be
After a botched effort to limit the appeal of its GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards with cryptocurrency miners, Nvidia may be back with a new strategy designed to keep its GPUs in the hands of gamers. The company is rumored to be working on a refresh of its existing lineup of GeForce RTX 3000 series GPUs, which are based on the Ampere architecture. The new solution? A feature known as Lite Hash Rate (LHR), which will limit the hash rate capabilities of the card and make it unattractive for mining currencies like Ethereum. Unlike past efforts, LHR is said to be nearly impossible to bypass. In essence, Nvidia’s second software-based stab at limiting the crypto mining appeal of its GPUs is designed to keep more of its graphics cards on the market for gamers, but such a strategy may not result in a more meaningful supply of GPUs for purchase. Allegedly, the new GeForce GPUs with the new GA**2 branding will come with resizable BAR support when they ship in mid-May, according to a … [Read more...] about Are Nvidia’s rumored Lite Hash Rate GPUs enough to fix supply woes?
