There’s no charger included with the Galaxy S21, and while I don’t think this is a problem on its own, I have had some issues with charging using third-party chargers. I’ve charged the phone each night I’ve been using it, and on three of those occasions it has charged by about 20% and stopped. I only realized this in the morning. I have been using a Google Pixel 4 charging block and cable. I’ll continue to monitor this and experiment with other chargers. In the same way as the Wi-Fi issue, it has not affected the review score and we have informed Samsung. It’s likely to be an isolated problem, as it does not affect my colleague’s S21 Ultra. … [Read more...] about Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra review: 2021’s true S Series phone, and the best yet

Cyberpunk 2077 Bug Bulldozes AMD Ryzen: Here’s a Fix, Tested (Updated)
Overall, our first round of benchmarks with the Cyberpunk 2077 fix indicates that it works well for AMD chips with lighter core counts, meaning chips with eight or fewer cores, and the performance delta will vary based upon how close you are to a GPU bottleneck. As such, those with lesser GPUs will see varying levels of success. You'll see more noticeable performance improvements with newer generations of Ryzen processors, but even the first-gen models benefit in some scenarios. In many cases, the best approach to determining if your particular configuration will benefit simply consists of making the relatively simple change and giving it a spin. Proceed with caution, though, as the 'fix' isn't officially acknowledged by CD Projekt Red. … [Read more...] about Cyberpunk 2077 Bug Bulldozes AMD Ryzen: Here’s a Fix, Tested (Updated)
Logitech G600 MMO Review
We auditioned it with Adobe’s Lightroom, a pro-level photo-editing application that’s second only to Adobe’s Photoshop for multiple-keystroke shortcuts. We toggled up the Gaming Software utility, entered a new profile, directed the application to the executable (mandatory for all new profiles), and began assigning. In no time at all we’d created a shortcut for full screen view (Ctrl+Shift+F) and assigned it to Button G11 on the mouse. Now, every time we fire up Lightroom, a glorious full-screen perspective is but a single click away. Very nice. We also instructed the pointer to move a little faster within the program than outside it. No problem for the G600. … [Read more...] about Logitech G600 MMO Review
The most common motherboard problems, and how to fix them
A short circuit Motherboards are filled with capacitors and soldered connections that route data and power from one part of the board to another. As you may have noticed, the motherboard is held aloft from the PC case by a series of screw-in “standoffs” that are about a quarter-inch thick. These exist because the motherboard can short if it makes contact with other metallic components — causing the capacitors to blow out, bulge, and even leak fluid — which makes performing a physical inspection of components crucial to diagnosing issues. However, unless you are extremely confident with your skills with a soldering gun, replacing your capacitors is best left to professionals. … [Read more...] about The most common motherboard problems, and how to fix them
The best short-throw projectors
Resolution Resolution naturally determines the clarity of the image. This is measured the same way it is on televisions and monitors. It’s important to read the fine print when shopping for projectors, however. Many will boast 4K or 1080p resolutions but are referring to the content the projector supports — different than the projector’s native resolution. Many cheaper projectors will promote HD resolutions, but only have a native resolution of 840 × 480 (DVD quality). … [Read more...] about The best short-throw projectors
