It’s not just self-driving cars this tech could benefit. Arbe, for its part, has a big focus on improving autonomous delivery robots so they can navigate better in the real world. “For the first generation, [creators went] overkill with the amount of sensors that they are using,” Machness said. “But to try and reduce the costs, [they are now trying to] reduce the amount of sensors, but also increase the safety of those robots and their capability to move everywhere.” … [Read more...] about Radar, reborn: How a new spin on an old idea could revolutionize autonomous cars

This clever attachment gives any powered wheelchair autonomous superpowers
A shocking number of wheelchair users — around 87% — have reported experiencing at least one tip or fall in the past three years. In 2010, the last year the data was available, wheelchair accidents were the cause of upward of 175,000 ER visits, with 30,000 of these major enough that the patient had to be admitted to the hospital. In other words, there’s a big problem that can affect wheelchair users — and it’s one that tech could be able to help solve. That’s where Luci comes into play. … [Read more...] about This clever attachment gives any powered wheelchair autonomous superpowers
Everything Intel has announced at CES 2021 so far
In education, Intel announced new Intel Pentium Silver and Celeron processors that are designed for the first time on 10nm nodes. The processors, according to the company, deliver up to 35% faster gen-on-gen performance. This means faster rendering and productivity for the education market. The chips will be headed to Chrome, Windows, and Linux laptops this year, Intel executives stated. Along with integrated graphics, faster Wi-Fi 6 support will also be part of Intel’s education experience. … [Read more...] about Everything Intel has announced at CES 2021 so far

From Paris to NYC, Mobileye will bring self-driving cars to metropolises
The key, says CEO Amnon Shashua, is technology that lets Mobileye map entire cities without an army of engineers on the ground. More than 1 million vehicles from six different carmakers are already sharing data with Mobileye, allowing the company to build high-definition maps of cities without needing a physical presence there. The company just proved this approach in Munich, where it successfully launched autonomous vehicles with just two weeks of testing and two employees in the city. Mobileye calls this technology Road Experience Management, or REM. … [Read more...] about From Paris to NYC, Mobileye will bring self-driving cars to metropolises
