AMD's Ryzen 7000 (Raphael) processors may be around the corner. However, the chipmaker isn't ready to retire the Ryzen 5000G (Cezanne) lineup. In the shape of the Ryzen 7 5700, an unreleased chip has emerged in the wild. At first glance, the Ryzen 7 5700 looks like an iteration of the Ryzen 7 5700X or Ryzen 7 5700G . The Geekbench 5 (opens in new tab) submission (via Benchleaks (opens in new tab) ) detected the unannounced chip as part of AMD's Cezanne family, so it's theoretically a member of AMD's Ryzen 5000G family of APUs. The Ryzen 7 5700 features the same formula as the Ryzen 7 5700G. The chip has eight Zen 3 cores with simultaneous multithreading (SMT) and 16MB of L3 cache. The clock speeds are different, though. While the Ryzen 7 5700G has a 3.8 GHz base clock, the Ryzen 7 5700 seems to sport a 100 MHz slower base clock. In the Geekbench 5 run, the Ryzen 7 5700 averaged 4,617 MHz, which falls in line with the Ryzen 7 5700G's official 4.6 GHz boost clock. … [Read more...] about AMD’s Ryzen 7 5700 Emerges Without Radeon Vega iGPU

Samsung Begins 3nm Production: World’s First Gate-All-Around Transistors
Samsung Foundry had started the initial production of chips using its 3GAE fabrication process, the company announced (opens in new tab) today. The new 3GAE (3nm-class gate-all-around early) manufacturing technology is set to improve performance, cut down power consumption, and increase transistor density. However, to do so, early designs must be tailored for the node, which essentially means that 3nm GAA is not for everyone just yet. "Samsung Electronics, the world leader in semiconductor technology, today announced that it has started initial production of its 3-nanometer (nm) process node applying Gate-All-Around (GAA) transistor architecture," the statement from the company reads. Samsung brands its 3GAE gate-all-around field-effect transistors (GAAFETs) as multi-bridge channel field-effect transistors (MBCFETs). The transistors' reduced leakage current is one of the key features, as the gate is now surrounded by the channel across all four sides. Another advantage is … [Read more...] about Samsung Begins 3nm Production: World’s First Gate-All-Around Transistors
Used GPU Prices Fall by up to 50% in Recent Months as Mining Stops
According to a report by Bloomberg this morning, the cryptocurrency mining industry is dying at a rapid pace. With many of the world's major cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, crashing, mining is no longer a sustainable form of income for many people. As a result, miners are selling off the best GPUs in droves, causing GPU prices on the second-hand market to plummet as much as 50% in recent months. ( Bloomberg 's data starts at the end of May) . This is great news for PC gamers and means the used GPU market is now a viable solution for buying graphics cards on a budget. Before the crypto crash, used GPU prices were so expensive that buying a brand new card was often a better decision. If you want to see just how absurd eBay prices were just a few months ago, check out our GPU Pricing Index here. One estimate cited by Bloomberg suggests more than a third of the consumer graphics card market could vanish with the loss of the crypto mining user base, with an … [Read more...] about Used GPU Prices Fall by up to 50% in Recent Months as Mining Stops
GTX 1630 on Par With GTX 1050 Ti, Benchmarks Show
According to a Weibo post by Inno3D , Nvidia's new GeForce GTX 1630 is an incredibly slow gaming GPU, with new benchmarks showcasing performance parity with the entry-level GTX 1050 Ti from six years ago. If Inno3D's benchmarks are applicable to most titles, this makes the GTX 1630 one of the slowest GPUs on the market right off the bat, and perhaps little more than a refreshed GTX 1050 Ti with newer video encoders and decoders thanks to the newer Turing architecture. The GTX 1050 Ti came out in 2016 as Nvidia's entry-level gaming GPU powered by the Pascal architecture. The 1050 Ti features 768 CUDA cores running on a 128-bit memory bus with 4GB of GDDR5 memory. Power consumption peaked at 75W with clock speeds starting at 1290MHz for the base clock, and boost frequencies hitting 1392MHz for the reference model. But even in 2016, we were not completely satisfied with its performance. In our original review , when compared to the vanilla GTX 1050, the 1050 Ti showed … [Read more...] about GTX 1630 on Par With GTX 1050 Ti, Benchmarks Show
The best 5K monitors of 2022 | Digital Trends
Despite their high cost, 5K monitors are fairly popular among content creators, including photographers, videographers, movie makers, and even graphic designers. Apart from delivering incredibly crisp and detailed images, these monitors are usually quite large in size and feature high-end factory-calibrated panels to best present accurate colors. A true 5K resolution is 5,120 x 2,880 pixels, but most companies only focus on the horizontal pixels. Notably, very few monitors offer that resolution; hence, we have picked some of the best monitors that offer a 5K2K (5,120 x 2,160 pixels) resolution, too. Here are the best 5K monitors you can buy in 2022.
