Blade's Shadow Ghost is a cool little box that lets you use the Shadow desktop-in-the-cloud service with just a TV or monitor. No PC required. The box that gives you the device and network connections you need to use the Windows-based desktop service. When I tried it out, I kept forgetting I wasn't on a local PC and never found myself shrieking about the speed. I still can't believe I like it so much.A "Shadow," as Blade dubs the virtual system the service provides, can be used for anything, but the most obvious mainstream allure of a virtual machine these days is for cloud gaming. Think of the Ghost as a console without any local storage and simple video decoding that can run any Windows game. This is actually the second version of the box, but now it's got a catchy name and most of the kinks worked out. Now playing: Watch this: Blade Shadow Ghost delivers great gaming performance... 1:47 The Ghost itself costs $140 (£110), while the service runs $35 … [Read more...] about Blade Shadow Ghost turns your TV into a snappy cloud-gaming PC

And while the marketing photos show it sans cables -- that's typical -- they will mar the austere emptiness of your desk. It also looks like it uses a proprietary cable with a dual-headed power and HDMI (v2.0), though that may just be what comes in the box; it also has a Mini Display DisplayPort (v 1.2) connector. But unlike a traditional stand, it can be lowered down to the level of … [Read more...] about Samsung’s Space monitors bring its minimalist TV aesthetic to your desk

Nvidia wants you to spend about the same as an entirely new computer on its latest top-of-the-line graphics card, the GTX 2080 Ti. You could get a great laptop or a very solid desktop for the same $1,200 price Nvidia’s new card commands. You could get a couple of PS4 Pros or Xbox Ones! You could get an iPhone X or a Samsung Note 9. Point is you could spend your $1,200 on a lot of different gadgets that do more than a graphics card—so how on earth can it be worth it? Nvidia’s last generation, the 10-series, came out about two years ago and is still available today, and its still plenty fast for most games. You don’t really need a pricey GPU for working in Photoshop or editing a film. GPUs are good at one thing—rendering 3D graphics, and most of us only need to render … [Read more...] about What on Earth Makes a $1,200 Nvidia 2080 Ti Graphics Card Worth It?
