A police officer has been injured in a hit-and-run in Coventry.
The incident happened in Burnaby Road, Holbrooks, and saw the officer taken to hospital with head and leg injuries.
The road remains taped off by police and drivers are urged to avoid the area.

We now have the full story and a police statement on the incident in Holbrooks earlier which saw a police officer injured in a hit-and-run.
Emergency services were called to Burnaby Road around 2.45pm on Wednesday afternoon to reports of a man hit by a car.
The victim was a neighbourhood officer who had been attempting to stop a car when he was run over.
Fleeing the scene, the car involved was found a few streets away a short time later.
The incident sparked a large emergency service response with a number of police officers in attendance.

Vehicle dumped nearby
A neighbourhood officer attempted to stop a car in Holbrook Lane, Radford, just after 2.45pm.
He was run over, before the vehicle made off from the scene and dumped a few roads away.
The car has been recovered a and investigations continue to trace the driver.
Police officer injured in hit and run
West Midlands Police has confirmed that a police officer has been injured in a hit and run.
Emergency services were called to the junction of Burnaby Road and Holbrook Lane just after 2.45pm this afternoon.
Chief Supt Mike O’Hara, from Coventry Police, has said it is “completely unacceptable” for a police officer to be injured in the line of duty.

Our reporter Laura has spoken to an eyewitness who saw police zooming around the area this afternoon.
Anne Marie Goodwin said:
The first thing we saw was a couple of police cars screeching down the road and the police helicopter about 3.10pm.
“Next thing you see every car towards the Ricoh turning around – the road looked blocked.
“We looked out the shop and could see the police car by Yelverton Road. You heard the sirens and it’s been one after the other coming down.”
Awaiting details from police
We are still awaiting information on today’s incident from West Midlands Police, who we contacted as soon as we were aware of the collision.
This afternoon’s incident is causing problems for drivers in the area.
Burnaby Road is taped off from Yelverton Road down to the junction with Holbrook Lane.
Motorists are also unable to get to the roundabout at the junction of Holbrook Lane/Burnaby Road and are being turned around by from Holbrook Way at one end and the bottom of the Lockhurst Lane from the other direction.
Man taken to hospital
We have received an update from West Midlands Ambulance Service.
They say a man in his 40s has been taken to hospital after he was “treated on scene by ambulance staff and then taken on blue lights to University Hospital in Coventry for further treatment.”
‘Severe delays’ to bus services

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) said it was called to the incident by police at 2.43pm.
“One ambulance and one paramedic officer were sent to the scene,” the WMAS spokesperson said.
”On arrival they found a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian.”
More police cars arriving
Our reporter Laura tells us that more police cars – both marked and unmarked – are arriving at the scene in Burnaby Road.
The police helicopter has also been seen overhead.

Rumours that police officer injured
There are rumours that the person hit by a car in Burnaby Road is a police officer.
We have contacted West Midlands Police for details on the incident.

Police and paramedics are at the scene of the collision which is understood to be towards the Holbrook Lane end of Burnaby Road.

A pedestrian has been hit by a car in Burnaby Road, Holbrooks, this afternoon.
Traffic easing on A444
Traffic is reported to be easing on the A444 Jimmy Hill Way in both directions between the B4082 and B4109 Stoney Stanton Road.
The delays were due to roadworks with temporary traffic lights in operation.

A world-famous DJ will be performing a set with a live band in Nuneaton.
Judge Jules is swapping the golden isles of Ibiza for Queens Road as he is due to appear at the Queens Hall.
The DJ, voted the best in the world in the mid 90s, will be performing classic dance hits with a live ten piece band at the venue above The Crew on Saturday, October 12.

There are delays near Tanworth-in-Arden in Warwickshire this morning following an accident.
Broad Lane is closed in both directions and there is heavy traffic following the two-car collision., which took place at Poolhead Lane.
There is congestion stretching back to Penn Lane.
The incident is affecting traffic between Wood End and Redditch.
M42 J5 exit slip road reopened
The exit slip road at J5 of the southbound carriageway of the M42 for Solihull has reopened.
One of the two lanes had been closed earlier due to a broken-down vehicle.
A46 accident cleared
The accident on the A46 southbound heading out of Coventry has now been cleared.
Traffic is moving well though there may be some residual delays.
Delays in Hatton
There are delays on the A4177 Birmingham Road in both directions in Hatton near Warwick this morning because of an accident.
The road is partially blocked and there is very slow traffic.
The accident took place near Hatton Village Hall.
Delays on A444
There is queuing traffic on the A444 Jimmy Hill Way in both directions between the B4082 and B4109 Stoney Stanton Road.
The delays are due to roadworks with temporary traffic lights in operation.
Congestion worsening on A46
There are reports delays are lengthening on the A46 southbound this morning due to an accident and the closure of one lane.
It is affecting outbound traffic from Coventry.
The accident, where a vehicle left the carriageway and ended-up on an embankment, took place between the A45 Stonebridge Highway (Festival Island,) and Stoneleigh Road.
Current reports indicate there are long queues and traffic is moving very slowly indeed.
One lane is closed on the M42 southbound exit slip road for J5 (Solihull).
The lane closure is due to a broken-down vehicle,
One lane blocked and there is slow traffic due to accident on the A46 southbound between the A45 Stonebridge Highway (Festival Island,) and Stoneleigh Road.
