Rumors of a Breaking Bad movie have been prevalent, and now there’s a trailer and release date.
Chronicling the transformation of meek chemistry teacher Walter White (Bryan Cranston) into the meth kingpin who went by the name Heisenberg, Breaking Bad is thought of as one of the best television shows of the last decade. Since the show ended nearly six years ago, a prequel spinoff, Better Call Saul, has also been a great success for AMC and creator Vince Gilligan.
In series finale of Breaking Bad, Walter White appeared to die while his one-time partner Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) made his escape, crashing through a fence behind the wheel of an El Camino. After what he had been through during the show’s final season, it was easy to imagine a hopeful future for Mr. Pinkman.
Rumors of a Breaking Bad movie, focused on Pinkman as a sequel to the series, have been around. Crews seen setting up around the show’s famous New Mexico locations seemed to confirm some work being done on the movie, but no one involved had admitted anything.
On Saturday, out of nowhere, Netflix released a teaser trailer for the Breaking Bad movie.

Yep, that’s fan-favorite Breaking Bad character Skinny Pete (Charles Baker), talking to law enforcement. He insists he has no idea where his old friend Jesse Pinkman is, and even if he did he wouldn’t say, citing “watching the news” and seeing what was done to Pinkman so he would keep cooking crystal meth with something along the lines of Heisenberg’s trademark blue hue for his captors.
Netflix did release a short plot summary of the film.
“In the wake of his dramatic escape from captivity, Jesse must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future.”
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie will hit Netflix on Oct. 11. According to the New York Times the film will also be broadcast on AMC at a later date, so Breaking Bad fans that don’t have Netflix will get their opportunity to see it.
